TouchDAW and Kindle Fire

First of all: Yes, TouchDAW works on Kindle Fire.

Unfortunately though, Amazon Appstore is not accepting app submissions from German developers in the moment - or rather for quite some time now - due to a legal action filed by Apple in Germany over Amazon's use of the term "Appstore".
While this is effectively just another example of corporate bullshit, it does create some inconvenience for Kindle users trying to get TouchDAW onto their device.

Here are some ways to achieve it nevertheless:

  1. The recommended way:
On the Kindle allow installations from "unknown sources" (Settings / More / Device), then go to Android Pit, download their App-Center and install it. This is an alternative market app that will let you access apps not available in Amazon's store. It will supply you with updates and offers alternative payment methods like PayPal etc. Once you got it running you will be able to download and install TouchDAW from the Android Pit market through the AppCenter app.
Please find further instructions on the Android Pit site.

  2. You can purchase TouchDAW on Google's market using a device with market access. Once you got it, move it to the SD card, copy it to your PC and install it on the Kindle as described here.

  3. Hack the Kindle to gain root access and install Android Market on it. This is a bit more of an action and should only be done by those who know what they are doing. Here are some instructions (Google will find hundreds of others). Use at your own risc.

  4. Pull a crack from one of the thousands of "free apk warez" sites... No, please don't do that. The piracy rate that we see with TouchDAW is already extremely high and extremely demotivating. It may well kill off the app at some point in the future. Thanks for resisting the temptation.
