Connecting via USB

Android 6 (Marshmallow) and beyond:
  • Usb Peripheral
Allows one app at a time to make one Usb MIDI connection to a host computer.

Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) and beyond:
Before Android 6 the system did not offer a standardized way to send data directly to a host computer over USB. This left developers with no other options than implementing proprietary hacks to provide USB connectivity. The following methods are just that: Hacks that do work, but will not offer the convenience you may have come to expect from desktop systems.

  • Tethering
This connects directly to rtpMIDI or mnet over a tethered USB network connection. Requires Android 2.2 or greater and telephone functionality (It does not make phonecalls...).

  • ADB (Android Debug Bridge)
Works on all Android versions and does not need cellular connectivity. Requires mnet / MIDIHub.
